So What's Neighbourhood Watch All About ?

We all like to sit down for 10-15 minutes during the day and have a nice quiet cup of tea or coffee. Commonly, that's all the time a Neighbourhood Watch (NhW) Coordinator will have to spend in a week , and often not even that. However if you live in a very high crime area you may have to spend more time on NhW. Think of the advantages - you will be helping to unite your fellow neighbours in combatting crime and restoring a community companionship that has been lost over the years.

There are more than 300 NhW schemes in Medway serving more than 20,000 households (that's 20% of all Medway !) and we are growing fast. nationally, NhW is the fastest growing voluntary body on the UL. many of the schemes were started in a state of despair with members feeling it was a last hope. Today, these schemes have not only seen crime reduced but many also hold social gatherings, arrange emergency help from amongst their own members who are useful with DIY etc.

Marlow Neighbourhood Watch

The Marlow Neighbourhood Watch scheme covers Marlow Copse, Valley Rise, Frensham Walk, The Willows, Hawthorns and Tunbury Avenue South.

We must all work together if we are to achieve maximum impact in reducing crime and creating a safer community. That is what Neighbourhood Watch Schemes are all about. Here in the Walderslade Woods area most of our problems come from garage break-ins, car crime and vandalism. In comparison with many parts of the country these may be considered to be minor. Nevertheless, they are an infringement on our quality of life and we are not prepared to tolerate it.

Our Services
As well as receiving information from our Watch Members, in being affiliated to The Medway NhW Association we are able to gather "intelligence" from their highly sophisticated RINGMASTER system. Their office based in Rainham Police Station (and manned entirely by volunteers) is able to circularise all registered co-ordinators with details of crime events. We, in turn, disseminate those which may be of interest to our members

You can find out more about Marlow Neighbourhood Watch at there website which is located at http://neighbourhoodwatch.net/local/marlow/.
